I move:—
That it is expedient to authorise such payments out of money provided by the Oireachtas as are necessary to give effect to any Act of the present Session to amend and extend the Housing (Gaeltacht) Act, 1929, and the Housing (Gaeltacht) (Amendment) Act, 1934, and for that purpose to repeal the Housing (Gaeltacht) (Amendment) Act, 1939.
Could the Minister say how much money is involved?
Approximately £150,000.
Per year?
No, a total figure. The amount is limited by Section 2 of the Bill, which sets out that the aggregate amount of grants and loans shall not exceed £900,000. That is the total figure, and, of that, a sum of approximately £750,000 has been spent, which leaves this Money Resolution providing roughly £150,000.
Does the Minister regard that amount as adequate?
There is a carry-over from the old Acts of approximately £90,000, and the two amounts ought to be adequate, unless some unforeseen steep rise in the cost of building materials occurs.
