Vol. 117 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - I.R.A. Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of cases in which Section 10 (3) of the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, was invoked to refuse the grant of a service certificate to applicants who had I.R.A. service of the nature and duration necessary to qualify for a pension under the Act and if it is intended to introduce proposals for an amendment of the Act to enable such cases to be reviewed.

The number of cases referred to by the Deputy in which the Minister for Defence refused, under the provisions of Section 10 (3) of the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, the grant of a service certificate is three.

I propose to amend the Act to permit of reconsideration of the Minister's refusal in such cases.
