Vol. 118 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leinster Lawn Cenotaph.

asked the Taoiseach whether he is aware of the long delay in the restoration of the Griffith-Collins-O'Higgins cenotaph at Leinster Lawn; and, if so, whether he will state the cause of the delay and whether the design has yet been approved; and, furthermore, whether he will arrange that the work be commenced at the earliest possible moment.

The delay in this matter has been due to the necessity for the greatest care in the selection of a suitable design for the memorial and in the planning of the lay-out of the grounds of which it will be the central feature. The design has been approved, and work on the site has already begun. I can assure the Deputy that the erection of the memorial will proceed with all possible despatch.
