Vol. 120 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Poles for Electricity Supply.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state if it is the practice for individuals who defrayed the cost of erection of poles for electricity supply in rural areas to be given a refund when other persons in urban areas avail of these poles for their electricity requirements.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that individuals are not asked to defray the cost of erection of poles for electricity supply in rural areas. In certain cases of isolated premises connection under a rural electrification scheme cannot be effected economically, and in such cases it has been the practice to quote a special increased fixed charge. If the Deputy desires further information in regard to any individual cases, I will arrange to have it supplied to her on receipt of particulars.
