Vol. 120 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Apprenticeship Committees.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the names of the trades in respect of which apprenticeship committees have been set up under the Apprenticeship Act, 1928; whether it is proposed to establish any further committees, and whether he proposes to have an investigation made into the problems of apprenticeship in the building and other trades.

Apprenticeship committees have been established for the following trades:—house-painting and decorating; furniture; hairdressing; brush and broom.

The question of the establishment of further committees in respect of other trades would depend on the demand made by employees and employers in these trades.

It is not proposed to have an investigation made into the problems of apprenticeship in the building and other trades.
