Vol. 124 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the amounts granted to the Cork Corporation out of the transitional development fund for houses built at Ballyphehane, Parkowen, Gould Street, and Bankers Lane, Cork, giving the total amount in each case and the amount per house paid or proposed to be paid.

Instalments of grants from the Transition Development Fund amounting to £24,000 have been paid to date to Cork Corporation in respect of the Bakers Lane scheme and a further £7,000 will be paid very shortly. A grant at the rate of £400 per house has been allocated for this scheme.

Rents have not yet been definitely fixed for houses in the schemes at parkowen and Gould Street, and the all-in cost of the Ballyphehane scheme cannot yet be ascertained. In the circumstances it has not yet been possible to determine the amount of the grant, if any, which may be allocated in respect of these schemes. The question of payment in these cases does not, therefore, arise at present.
