Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Greyhound Industry Inquiry.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether any committee has been appointed recently to inquire into the greyhound industry, and, if so, whether he will state (1) the names of the members; (2) the remuneration, if any, payable to them, and (3) the terms of reference of any such committee.

As already announced, I have appointed an advisory committee to report on the greyhound industry.

(1) The names of the members of the advisory committee were given in the daily newspapers of the 22nd February, 1951. They are:—Mr. Timothy O'Connell, chairman; Mr. Anthony Barry, Mr. James P. Frost, Mr. Thomas J. Gallagher, Mr. John McGrath, Mr. Joseph Mulhall, Mr. Florence O'Leary, Mr. Thomas O'Sullivan, Mr. Peter P. Wilkinson.

(2) The members of the advisory committee will not receive any remuneration.

(3) The terms of reference of the advisory committee are as follows:—

To ascertain and report on the position respecting coursing, greyhound breeding and other related activities and such measures, if any, as are considered desirable in the national interest for the better control and development thereof.
