asked the Minister for Lands whether the price of sawn timber at the State sawmills increased since June last; and, if so, the percentage increase and the reason for the increase.
Questions— Written Answers. - Price of Sawn Timber.
The prices of homegrown timber have been subject to price control under Maximum Price Orders since 1942 until the Orders were revoked on 3rd September last and the prices of sawn timber at the State sawmills have since been increased so as to bring them more into line with production costs and with the prices now being charged for homegrown timber by privately-owned sawmills. The amount of the increase at the State sawmills is 100 per cent. over the former maximum prices for homegrown timber.
