Vol. 127 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Anderson Estate (Leix).

andMr. O. Flanagan asked the Minister for Lands if he received a request from the secretary of the local land league, Timahoe, County Laoighis, about the end of last August which was acknowledged on 4th September, 1951, requesting him to receive a deputation of the Deputies for the constituency and others concerning the delay in acquiring the Anderson estate and declined to meet the deputation, stating it is proposed to have an inspection and valuation made of the land; and, if so, if he will now state whether the inspection and valuation have been carried out or if any offer of price was since made to the owner who has agreed to sell to the commissioners, and whether the estate mentioned will be divided during the coming year.

I refused to meet a deputation regarding the acquisition of the Anderson estate as it would serve no purpose in view of the fact that the Land Commission had the preliminary stages of the matter in hands already. There was no mention of any delay on the part of the Land Commission made in representations received by me.

The lands will be inspected and valued in due course but there can be no offer of price unless and until the Land Commission decide to proceed with acquisition.

Will the lands be inspected before the existing temporary tenancy period expires?

The lands are being inspected.

How long ago is it since the papers were sent to the Department's inspector.

It is some months ago.
