Vol. 128 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reduced Export Dues.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware (1) that subsequent to a letter from his Department complaining of the high export dues on eggs, fowl and rabbits exported from Cork, the members of the Cork Harbour Commissioners substantially reduced the export duties on these; (2) that they have now received a letter from the Cork Warehousing, Cold Storage and Pure Ice Company, Limited, stating that they applied for 6/9 per ton reduction of dues in the export of rabbits but were informed that the Irish and English Traffic Conference decided that they could not make a refund and if he will state what steps he intends to take to see that the trade should receive the benefit of this reduction as intended by the Cork Harbour Commissioners.

As regards the first part of the question, the Department of Agriculture has not been in correspondence with the Cork Harbour Commissioners on this matter. As to the second part, this is not a matter for the Department of Agriculture.
