Vol. 128 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Bus Service.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will take steps to have a bus service provided from Mulrany via Ballycroy, to Bangor Erris, as there is no public transport service in this area.

The responsibility for making provision to meet the demand for transport services has been placed by the Transport Act, 1950, on the board of Córas Iompair Éireann. I suggest that the Deputy should address his request in this matter direct to Córas Iompair Éireann.

In relation to the demand for transport facilities in this particular area, does the Minister realise the inconvenience which is being caused? Córas Iompair Éireann are not prepared to do anything to ease the situation.

I understand there is some question about the suitability of the road for bus services.
