Vol. 128 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he will state what decisions were arrived at in relation to the wages of male agricultural workers at the meeting of the Agricultural Wages Board which was held on the 6th December, 1951.

Mr. Walsh

The board is an autonomous body. I have no information regarding any decisions made by the board at their meeting on 6th December in relation to the wages of male agricultural workers.

Does the Minister want seriously to suggest to me that he is not aware of the fact that despite his own statements here, despite the statements of his supporters and despite the propaganda published in the Sunday Press about the forgotten men on the land in fact this useless body, the Agricultural Wages Board, has refused an increase to these men?

Mr. Walsh

I have no information on that.

It does not suit you to say it.

Who nominated the chairman?

Who nominated the board?
