Vol. 131 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport of County Cork School-children.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that upwards of 26 schoolchildren attending the Mitchelstown secondary schools are obliged to cycle a distance of seven miles, using the Kildorrery-Mitchelstown road; and, if so, if he will request Córas Iompair Éireann to establish a bus service in the area for those children and for many others that such a service would facilitate.

The responsibility for meeting the demand for transport facilities has been placed by the Transport Act, 1950, on the board of Córas Iompair Éireann appointed under that Act by the Government. I would suggest that the Deputy communicate direct with the board in the matter.
