asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the total amount of loans issued by the Agricultural Credit Corporation to farmers for each of the years from 1940 to 1951, inclusive; (b) the total amount of loans issued to 1st June or the latest available date in 1952, and (c) the rate of interest charged (1) in 1939 and (2) at present.

With regard to (a) and (b), I am informed that the only information available is for the accounting years of the corporation. As this information is in tabular form I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it included in the Official Report.
As regards (c), the corporation's lending rate from 1st January, 1939, to 29th September, 1939, inclusive, was 5 per cent. per annum, and from 30th September, 1939, to 31st December, 1939, was 6 per cent. per annum. The present lending rate is 6 per cent. per annum.
