Vol. 134 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Hospitals' Staffs' Wages.

asked the Minister for Health if it is proposed to increase the wage rates of wardsmen, wardsmaids and general workers employed at county hospitals; and, if so, when.

I am not prepared to approve any adjustment in the rates of remuneration of such staff except as part of any adjustment of remuneration of employees of local authorities generally.

Has the Minister taken the general question into consideration?

I would not say that the general question is ripe for consideration at the moment.

If a recommendation comes from a county manager with regard to an increase will the Minister consider it?

Not until the general question comes up.
