Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - University Undergraduates.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state (a) the total number of undergraduate students inour four university colleges, and (b) the total number of undergraduates who have availed of Government grants to attend these universities.

(a) The latest year for which figures are available is 1950-51. In that year the total number of undergraduate students in the three constituent colleges of the National University and in Trinity College was:—

making a total of

6,226

(b) In the same year, there were 30 undergraduate students holding university scholarships from the Department of Education, which is approximately the normal figure for any year.
