Vol. 136 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Offaly Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he has received repeated representations from and on behalf of the local people during the past ten years requesting the Land Commission to acquire and divide the Bennett estate, Clareen, County Offaly, and if he will now state what action has been or is likely to be taken in this case.

Following repeated representations in this matter, preliminary inquiries were made. It is now proposed to carry out a detailed inspection.

In view of the fact, as I think the Minister has been informed, that there is likelihood of this place being taken over by a non-national, would the Minister be good enough to expedite the proceedings?

The commissioners have directed that a report be obtained. I will make inquiries into the matter.
