Vol. 136 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Portlaoighise Meat Price.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he received a request for investigation concerning the action of certain victuallers in Portlaoighise, County Laoighis, in increasing the price of fresh meat by fourpence per pound; whether he is aware that prices are higher there than in Dublin as well as in adjoining towns and if he will now state what action he has taken or proposes taking in this case.

The Deputy forwarded to my Department on the 21st January a copy of a resolution passed by the Portlaoighise Branch of the Labour Party requesting that the Prices Advisory Body investigate meat prices in Portlaoighise and suggesting that control should be reimposed on the price of meat. Investigations are being made, but have not yet been completed.
