Vol. 137 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Afforestation.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what stage proceedings have reached for the acquisition of Ardagh Mountain, County Longford, the property of Mr. John G. Hall, for forestry purposes.

Agreement has been reached to purchase this area provided that certain difficulties regarding access can be solved. Their solution is in sight.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is now in a position to state (1) when the forestry division will start operations in respect to the afforestation scheme at Lickeen, Glencar; (2) the position regarding the proposed afforestation scheme at Killacloghane and Kilderry, Milltown, and (3) if the forestry division will develop an afforestation scheme at Caragh Lake.

The position regarding the Lickeen and Killacloghane/Kilderry areas is still the same as that indicated in my replies to the Deputy on the 5th February last. Title investigations on the Lickeen area have, however, since been completed. Title investigations are in progress in respect of an area of 130 acres at Caragh Lake while a further offer in this area is being investigated.
