Vol. 145 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supply of Seed Wheat.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that farmers who wish to grow wheat this year find that they cannot get imported or home-grown seed suitable for their land from any of their usual suppliers; and, if so, if he will make arrangements to have supplies made available.

Mr. Walsh

Ample supplies of seed wheat of the principal variety grown are available. I am, however, aware that some farmers have had difficulty in getting particular varieties. To meet this situation, licences are being granted to farmers and merchants for the importation of seed.
