Vol. 146 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Liffey Bridge.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state when a definite decision may be expected in respect of the provision of additional bridges over the River Liffey in order to relieve traffic congestion.

The preparation of proposals for whatever engineering works, including the provision of additional bridges over the Liffey, which may be deemed necessary for the relief of traffic congestion in Dublin, is a matter primarily for the Dublin Corporation. I understand that in December, 1953, the bridges committee of the corporation decided to recommend the city council to apply for a bridge Order under Section 44 of the Local Government Act, 1946, and that the matter is since under consideration by the city council.
