Vol. 146 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Bridges.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is proposed to commence work on the reconstruction of the metal bridge at Ballyongar, Lixnaw, so as to enable local farmers to use the road connecting Lixnaw and Ballyduff via Ballyongar and Rattoo.

The Kerry County Council has submitted no proposal to the Department in relation to this bridge.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he can now state when it is proposed to commence reconstruction work on the ferry bridge over the Cashen River as at present farmers are not allowed to use the bridge if their tractors or other farm equipment exceeds one and a half tons.

On 13th January last the council were advised by the Department to proceed with borings and tests necessary to establish the foundation conditions on the proposed new alignment of the bridge and on 11th March last they were informed of the amount of the grant which would be available.

No further detailed proposals have since been received.
