Vol. 148 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Council Houses.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether he has sanctioned proposals for the building of 50 county council cottages in Blanchardstown, and, if so, when building operations will commence, and the cause of delay in commencing them.

Sanction was given on 6th December last to the acceptance by Dublin County Council of a tender for the erection of 55 houses at Blanchardstown.

The matter is now one for the county council and I understand that discussions have been proceeding with the contractor in regard to some aspects of the contract documents for the scheme and that when agreement has been reached building work in pursuance of the contract may proceed.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that it was alleged in the Dublin Corporation they could not get water there?

I think the Deputy knows as well as I do that that difficulty has been disposed of.
