Vol. 148 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the present position in regard to the proposal to provide a water supply for Blanchardstown and Castleknock.

The scheme for the laying of the distribution mains in Blanchardstown and Castleknock has been completed. That part of the North Dublin regional water supply scheme which will serve this area is nearing completion.

I am well aware that the pipes have been laid for the past two years, but when will the water supply be turned on?

I would imagine that the Deputy will know that because it is the usual practice to invite all Deputies from the area.

That is the information I wanted because I want to know from the Parliamentary Secretary the definite date on which this water will be turned on. I raised a question here on the Adjournment with the Parliamentary Secretary some time ago and I just wanted the Parliamentary Secretary to be alive to the fact that we do not want this dilly-dallying for another two years when the pipes are already laid.

I will gladly give that undertaking to the Deputy.
