Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Division of Land.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the lands of Mr. John Gunning, Banada and Tullymoy, County Sligo, for division among smallholders in the area, and, if so, with what result.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of this estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the lands of Mr. Patrick O'Meara, Ballymacscanlon, Borrisokane, County Tipperary, for division among uneconomic holders in the area, and, if so, with what result.

An objection lodged by the owner against the proceedings for the acquisition of this estate was disallowed early this month.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the present position in regard to the Land Commission proceedings to acquire the lands of the representatives of Martin Rogers, Carrowmore, Castlerea, County Roscommon.

The Land Commission understand that these lands have been sold and they have temporarily suspended acquisition proceedings while certain inquiries are being made regarding the present ownership.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have yet prepared a scheme for the division of the lands, which were formerly the property of Mr. Victor Allen, Cloondacara, Castlerea, County Roscommon, and, if so, when it is likely to be put into operation.

A scheme for the disposal of these lands has not yet been prepared, but I am asking the commissioners to proceed with its disposal as rapidly as possible.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the cause of the delay in preparing a scheme for the allocation of the lands of Ballyeighter, Doocreggane and Cloghagalla near Aughrim, County Galway, which comprise 354 acres approximately, and when a scheme is likely to be prepared and put into operation.

The cause of the delay in the preparation of a scheme for the disposal of these lands is that the Land Commission is occupied in much more urgent work at present in progress in other parts of the county.
