Vol. 150 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Medical Services.

andJ. Lynch asked the Minister for Health if he is yet in a position to state when school medical services will be provided for children suffering from eye, ear, nose and throat ailments in Cork City and County; further, how long the children have been deprived of such services.

I would refer the Deputies to my reply to a similar question on 10th ultimo.

As I indicated in that reply, it was suggested, after earlier discussions had failed to produce a satisfactory settlement that, pending a settlement of the issues involved, the services should be provided as heretofore on the understanding that any agreement arrived at later would be applied retrospectively. Since there now appears to be no possibility of securing a resumption of services on that basis, I am now making further suggestions to the local authorities concerned as to the means by which the services can be provided but I am unable to say when the services will be resumed.
