Vol. 150 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castleisland Town Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the householders in Castleisland Town, County Kerry, are greatly inconvenienced by the defective water supply from the county council water scheme in the town, that there is a plentiful supply of water in the reservoir presently supplying the town, but that the shortage of supply is due to corroded and leaking water pipes, and, if so, if he will request the Kerry County Council to replace the defective pipes without delay.

This is a matter for the county council in the first instance. So far as the Department is aware, the causes of the low pressure at the town end of the delivery main have not been. conclusively established. In July, 1954, it was recommended that the delivery main from the existing reservoir be fully tested. No further information has since been received from the county council.
