asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he received an application some months ago for an Order under the Industrial Relations (Amendment) Act, 1955, to extend the scope of the Labour Court to certain classes of agricultural workers employed at Portrane Mental Hospital, County Dublin, and, if so, when a decision is likely to be made.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Extension of Scope of Labour Court.
An application has been made to me for an Order under the Industrial Relations (Amendment) Act, 1955, to give the agricultural workers employed at Portrane, and certain other employees of local authorities, the right of access to the Labour Court. The application has raised complex legal issues which are at present under examination. I am hopeful, however, that it will shortly be possible to take a decision on the application.
