Vol. 153 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposed Cork Airport.

andJ. Lynch asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will make a statement in regard to the proposed airport at Ballygarvan, Cork, with special reference to when construction work will commence.

I stated in Dáil Éireann on 21st April, 1955, that, until such time as the final result of the air talks with the British had been ascertained, it would be unwise to commit ourselves to any particular type of airport at Cork. As the talks have not yet been concluded I am not in a position to make a statement of the kind asked for by the Deputies.

Is this the only thing the Minister can effectively prevent going up?

The Lord Mayor of Cork should act sensibly in public.
