Vol. 155 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Suburbs Sewerage Scheme.

andJ. Lynch asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that a proposal for a sewerage scheme for the southwest suburbs of Cork was initiated nearly ten years ago; whether tenders have been received by the Cork County Council, and whether a tender has been submitted to him for sanction; further, whether, in view of the urgent need for this scheme, he will arrange to have it expedited.

I am aware of the period which has elapsed since the scheme was first considered and that tenders for the scheme have now been received by the Cork County Council. The acceptance of a tender is a matter for the sanitary authority in the first instance. Sanction to the acceptance of a tender has not yet been sought but any proposals submitted to me will be dealt with without delay.
