asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the quantity of muriate of potash imported during the half-year ended 31st March, 1957; (b) the port or ports from which it was shipped to Ireland; and (c) the places of origin thereof.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing by country of origin the quantity of muriate of potash imported in the half-year ended 31st March, 1957. Imports are not brought to account by reference to port of shipment and to extract this information from the original import entries would entail a considerable expenditure of time and labour.
