asked the Taoiseach if he will state the total national income for each of the years 1955 and 1956, and the share of it which accrued to recipients of wages, salaries and pensions.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Income.
For the year 1955 the total national income is estimated at £459,000,000. Of this total, wages, salaries and pensions, in respect of activities within the State, amounted to £223,000,000. In addition, there was a net inflow of wages, salaries and pensions from outside the State, estimated at £5,000,000.
National income compilations for the year 1956 have not yet been completed. Indications are, however, that the total national income amounted to about £450,000,000. It is not possible at this stage to state the share which accrued to recipients of wages, salaries and pensions.
