asked the Taoiseach if he will state (1) the number of agricultural holdings of (a) over ten statute acres, and (b) under ten acres, (2) the approximate number of male agricultural labourers in each county, (3) the approximate number of agricultural tractors in each county, and (4) the estimated number of farm horses in each county.

On 1st June, 1955, there were 257,350 holdings over ten statute acres in area and 121,326 holdings not exceeding ten acres. The latter figure includes 65,389 holdings not exceeding one acre. The following table sets out the particulars requested at parts (2), (3) and (4) of the Deputy's question.
(2) NUMBERS of male agricultural labourers (permanent and temporary); (3) Numbers of agricultural tractors and (4) Numbers of farm horses in each county on 1 June, 1955.
