asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give the names of all the companies of which the person most recently appointed to the Board of C.I.E. is a director, and whether he is aware that the person concerned is a director of a well-known company of motor assemblers and traders.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Member of Board of C.I.E.
The answer is in the negative. I should add that I consider that this type of inquisition by way of Dáil questions into the private affairs of persons appointed to statutory bodies and companies is bound to lead to a position in which suitable persons will in future hesitate to accept appointments to such bodies, and is, therefore, contrary to the public interest.
Is it not a fact that this person, Mr. Hogan, is a co-director, or was a co-director, in the firm of Lincoln and Nolan—the firm which supplied the Rover cars—a co-director with the present Minister for Industry and Commerce?
I think, Sir, a question of privilege arises.
