andMr. Collins asked the Minister for Education if he will state the number of primary and vocational school buildings scheduled for erection in Limerick City and County and the location of each.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick School Buildings.
I am advised that there are 27 national schools in Limerick County and one national school in Limerick City scheduled for erection. The location of the schools is set out in a statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.
In regard to vocational schools the City of Limerick Vocational Education Committee recently submitted a memorandam containing a tentative proposal for the acquisition and adaptation of the county infirmary which they consider would meet their needs for many years to come. This proposal if found to be acceptable would supersede previous proposals from the committee and would provide the necessary accommodation proposed for vocational education in their area.
County Limerick Vocational Education Committee have adopted a programme for the provision of schools at Rathkeale, Caherconlish, Kilmallock, Castleconnell, Glin and Askeaton but definite arrangements have so far been made only in respect of the Rathkeale project for which tenders will shortly be invited.
Following is the statement:—
