Vol. 176 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of White Oats.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the total tonnage of white oats imported in the current cereal year, (b) the country of origin of each consignment, (c) the ports of delivery in this country, and (d) the cost per ton ex-ship.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the tonnage of oats, including seeds for sowing, imported from each country in the period 1st September, 1958, to 31st May, 1959, the latest date for which these figures are available, and the average c.i.f. price per ton in each case. Particulars of imports are brought to account only by reference to the commodity descriptions specified in the Official Import List and, as this list does not distinguish between white oats and black oats, separate figures for white oats are not available. It is not possible to give particulars of the ports of delivery of imports of oats for the period in question.

Following is the statement:—
