asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will give details of fees, etc., payable to medical practitioners under the Post Office Medical Scheme.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

FEES payable to Medical Officers to Department of Posts & Telegraphs.

The allowances under (i) are payable quarterly in respect of each officer on a Medical Officer's capitation list, whether medical attention is required or not.

(i) For Head Office staff and staff at Sub-Offices in a Head Office group

20s. 0d. a year.

For staff at a rural Sub-Office

22s. 6d. a year.

(ii) For each medical examination in connection with an appointment; for each visit and/or report in connection with sick absence of an officer not on the capitation list; for each examination in connection with employment on motor-driving or motor-cycling duties

10s. 0d.

(iii) For each attendance in emergency cases and on officers temporarily on duty within the Medical Officer's area

7s. 6d.

(subject in each case to a quarterly maximum of 30s. for each officer).

(iv) For certain pathological examination of throat swabs

6s. 0d.

(v) For re-examination in connection with an appointment; for further examination during the probationary period; for examination of pathological specimens other than under (iv); for report in connection with fitness for cycling duty and for preliminary report in cases of tuberculosis

5s. 0d.

(vi) For sundry other reports

2s. 6d.
