asked the Minister for Defence (a) the total number of persons and (b) the number of persons in each county in receipt of special allowances under the Army Pensions Acts as at 31st December, 1960 and 30th April, 1961.

The total number of persons who were in receipt of special allowances under the Army Pensions Acts as on the 31st December, 1960 and the 30th April, 1961 was 6,263 and 6,258 respectively.

As the reply to the second part of the question is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, a Cheann Comhairle, with your permission, to have it circulated with the official report.
