asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the towns of (a) Drogheda, (b) Dundalk, (c) Ardee, County Louth, (d) Navan, County Meath and (e) Balbriggan, County Dublin, (1) the number of persons, giving males and females separately, holding insurance cards on the 1st January (or the nearest available date) in the years 1956 to 1962 inclusive, (2) the number of persons in those years who ceased to be employed contributors because their yearly income exceeded the insurable limit, (3) the number of voluntary contributors under the Social Welfare Act, 1952 in those years and (4) the latest unemployment figures.

The statistics asked for at (1), (2) and (3) of the Deputy's question are not available in my Department.

The numbers of persons resident in the towns mentioned who were registered as unemployed at the Local Offices of my Department at 28th April, 1962, the latest date for which figures are available, are:

Is the Minister aware that his predecessor some time ago supplied the information asked for in this Question?
