21.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will make a grant available for the provision of electric current in the Belderring area of North Mayo so that the scheme may be an economic one from the point of view of the ESB and the consumers of the current.

22.

Mr. Browne

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if immediate steps will be taken to provide rural electrification in the Templemary area and surrounding districts of Killala, County Mayo, at ground rents which will not be excessive.

24.

Mr. Browne

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if immediate steps will be taken to provide rural electrification in (a) Deelbridge, (b) Dera and (c) Coolturk areas, County Mayo, at ground rents which will not be excessive.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 20, 21, 22 and 24 together.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that Belderrig, Deelbridge, Dera, Coolturk and Templemary and surrounding districts of Killala are all included in rural areas which have already been developed under the Rural Electrification Scheme. As announced earlier this month the Government will provide 75 per cent, of the capital cost of connecting new consumers in such areas, subject to a maximum of £75 per house.

The Board state that any householder or group of householders who may still be without supply will be quoted terms on application to the Board's representative at Ballina.

23.

Mr. Browne

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if immediate steps will be taken to provide rural electrification in the Glenhest area of Newport, County Mayo at a rate economical to the users.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that they expect that the electrification of the Glenhest rural area will commence within the next 12 months.

As announced earlier this month the Government are providing a special subsidy of £90,000 to enable such uneconomic rural areas as Glenhest to be developed under the Rural Electrification Scheme.
