(a) Carlow No. 2 Dispensary District is linked with the much larger Carlow No. 1 Dispensary District which is in County Carlow and the combined districts are served by one district medical officer.
There are seventeen statutory dispensary districts in County Laois but Emo Dispensary District is divided into two areas for administrative purposes (Emo No. 1 and Emo No. 2 districts). Emo No. 2 district comprises the District Electoral Division of Portarlington South and the District Medical Officer assigned to this district is also District Medical Officer of Cloneygowan No. 2 Dispensary District in County Offaly.
