Vol. 197 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Division of Kerry Estates.

47.

asked the Minister for Lands the names and acreage of the estates in County Kerry in possession of the Land Commission which will be divided between now and April, 1963; and the cause of the delay in dividing such estates.

There has been no undue delay in the disposal of acquired lands in Kerry. During the last three financial years, an aggregate area of about 3,000 acres in the county has been distributed by the Land Commission amongst some 200 allottees—apart from the allotment of 176 rights of turbary—while, in the current year to date, 149 acres have been allotted and 81 rights of turbary provided.

The land settlement programme generally for the remainder of the current financial year is necessarily still tentative and it is not possible at present, therefore, to indicate precisely at this stage the particular lands which will be disposed of by next April. Perhaps, in the circumstances, it would meet the Deputy's requirements to know that, in Kerry this year, it may be possible to achieve an aggregate allotment in the region of 1,000 acres.

If the Deputy is interested in any particular estate, I would suggest that he communicate direct with the Land Commission in the matter.
