asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state in respect of (a) County Kildare and (b) that part of (1) County Westmeath and (2) County Meath in the Kildare constituency the respective numbers of applications for telephones outstanding on the last available date, and the estimated numbers it is proposed to instal between 1st October, 1962, and 31st March, 1963.

The particulars requested in the first part of the question are (a) 250; (b) (1) 20; (b) (2) 30. These figures are approximate as the records are kept according to telephone exchange areas. The estimates requested in the second part of the question are 150, 10 and 20 respectively.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, the number of applicants now awaiting the installation of telephones in the constituency of South Kerry; and if he is aware that some of these applicants have been waiting for as long as two years.

The answer to the first part of the question is about 70. The earliest applications outstanding were made in 1961 and involve abnormal construction work.
