Vol. 197 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Telephone Kiosks.

85.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will make arrangements to have a telephone kiosk erected at Friars' Street, Cashel, County Tipperary, to facilitate people living in the built-up area who may find it difficult to telephone after post office closing hours.

The use made of the existing public telephone facilities at Cashel does not warrant the provision of an extra kiosk in the area at this stage.

86.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the grave necessity for a telephone kiosk at Ballingarry, County Tipperary; and if he will arrange to have one erected at an early date.

The provision of a telephone kiosk at Ballingarry has been approved. Subject to any site or wayleave difficulties, it will be erected under next year's programme.

87.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will consider the erection of a public telephone at Kilruane, Nenagh, County Tipperary, because one is badly needed in that area.

The use likely to be made of a telephone kiosk in the area in question would not be sufficient to justify its provision.

88.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he will reconsider the claim of the Clonakilty Urban District Council, County Cork, for the erection of a second public telephone in the town.

I have reconsidered the matter and find no good reason to change the decision already given.
