It is not possible to make a break-down of costs as between part-time and full-time pupils in vocational schools.
In the report of my Department for the year 1958-59 the average cost to the State of a secondary school pupil is given at £33 8s. 11d. This relates only to expenditure under the educational services. In order to ascertain the actual overall cost to the State it would be necessary to take such factors as income tax relief into account.
