2.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state, in regard to (a) the Commission on Mental Illness and (b) the Commission on Mental Handicap, the dates of the setting up of the Commissions, the number of meetings held during the year 1962, the dates of the last two meetings, and the dates by which he expects the Commissions to have completed their reports.

The Commission on Mental Illness was established on 21st July, 1961. It held ten meetings during 1962. The last meeting was held on 23rd and 24th November, 1962, a two-day session. A further meeting will be held on 25th and 26th of this month. In addition, Committees of the Commission held 24 meetings since it was established, three of which were held since the last meeting of the whole Commission.

The Commission on Mental Handicap was established on 4th February, 1961. It held seven meetings during 1962. The last meeting was held on the 4th December, 1962. In addition, Committees of the Commission held 76 meetings since it was established, seven of which were held since the last meeting of the Commission.

I am not in a position to say when the Commissions will have completed their reports.
