Vol. 199 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rearrangements of Mayo Lands.

41.

asked the Minister for Lands the position regarding proposals for the rearrangement of lands in the townlands of Roy Bingham, Rathmorgan and Townagh in the Erris area of County Mayo.

With a view to rearranging holdings in Roy townland, three tenants have been migrated by the Land Commission in recent years. Provided the necessary co-operation on the part of the tenants of the remaining 18 holdings is forthcoming, it is hoped that formulation of rearrangement proposals will be feasible soon.

In Rathmorgan townland, six holdings were rearranged by the Land Commission last year, when sums amounting to about £6,400 were sanctioned for improvement works. Fencing of the new holdings has been completed but the erection of buildings by the tenants is pending.

The reference to "Townagh" is not identifiable in the townland index. If the Deputy will be good enough to give some additional particulars, I shall ask the Land Commission to communicate the position to him.
