Vol. 199 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health Costs in Meath and Kerry.

12.

asked the Minister for Health the cost in the pound on the rates for County Meath under the Health Acts for the last and the three previous financial years.

13.

asked the Minister for Health the cost in the pound on the rates for County Kerry imposed under the Health Acts, 1947 to 1961, for each year from 1947 to the latest date for which figures are available.

With your permission, a Ceann Comhairle, I propose to reply to Questions Nos. 12 and 13 together.

I understand that the Minister for Local Government will supply the information in reply to a more comprehensive question which is down for answer to-morrow.

Would the Minister indicate in relation to the estimate which he has mentioned based on a capitation payment, what capitation payment was taken into consideration?

I think that in the present circumstances it would be better not to answer that.

If the Minister feels in view of the fact that the Health Services Committee is sitting at present, it is better not to answer, that is all right.

Would the Minister say whether that is the only estimate he has, or is it an average?

I do not understand the Deputy.

The Minister quoted a calculation by which he says it would cost £1,000,000, running up in certain circumstances to £1.6 million. Has he any other calculation of the cost of providing the same kind of service on a somewhat different basis ?

Not that I am aware of.
