It has been decided to carry out a major scheme for the alteration and extension of the head Post Office in Waterford and the erection, on an adjoining site, of a new building. The scheme, the planning of which has been initiated, will provide improved accommodation for the post office staff as well as accommodation for the local income tax and customs and excise staffs. The scheme is estimated to cost of the order of £100,000 and working drawings and specification are in course of preparation. It is hoped that it will be possible to place a contract for the work about the end of next year.
