Vol. 200 No. 7

Written Answers. - Donegal and Limerick Secondary School Pupils.

46.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state in respect of the year 1958-59 the number of pupils attending secondary schools, whose homes are situated in (a) County Donegal and (b) County Limerick, and the total population over twelve and under eighteen years at the time of the 1951 census in each of those counties; and if he will give on the basis of each of these figures the percentage of the age group twelve to eighteen years attending secondary schools in each of the two counties.

In the school-year 1958-59, 1,353 pupils whose homes were in County Donegal and 4,296 pupils whose homes were in County Limerick, including Limerick city, were attending secondary schools in the Twenty-six Counties.

Information as to the total population over twelve and under eighteen years in each of these counties at the time of the 1951 census is not available. Accordingly, it is not possible to answer the remaining part of the question.
